AdastraSoft.com is founded to address what's lacking and/or wrong about special needs education and services in general.
We have seen it all. Special Education attorneys who are so friendly with the school districts administrators during the alleged "IEP" meetings. Specialized labs and clinics which offer all kind of unusual, not-covered services as if you have an oil well in your backyard. Health insurance companies who offer the "virtualized" services (you paid $$$$$ in premium and yet your claims are consistently denied). Endless slice-and-dice of IEP goals so to make the annual progress reports look oh so sweet. We could go on-and-on.
Or, is the "I" in "IEP" really stands for "Individualized"? If so, why would so many school districts pick one model and force it onto the students?
We firmly believe the parents have the biggest roles. If our beloved kids cannot walk the distance to communicate with us, we must walk the extra distance toward them to communicate with them. They are counting on us the parents. We cannot stress enough how much difference it makes when the kids know we love them unconditionally, that we never give up on them, regardless of who they are or what they could do (or not do).
We retain specialists of various disciplines, yet we deliberately make our products modeless. They could be used by anybody with minimal training. And they don't cost much - the cost of our most expensive software cannot even cover 15 minutes of Occupational Therapy.
We also proud ourselves in developing our software thru the eyes of the kids. After all, an educational software worth a dime only when the kid knows how to use it AND want to use it.
Use of our software does not require learning some random, non-standardized symbol system with babyish icons. Use of secondary reference in showing a concept is avoided whenever possible. Our software is designed more like a teaching tool than an typical assistive device that the kids may over-rely on. We want our software to be the tools that help the kids to grow, not the end-game.
Last but not least, we strongly encourage all of you to work with your specialists (SLP, OT, BCBA etc) to develop plans to use them at home and at the therapist's site.
We hope our software could help make a difference.

The Rainbow Halo of AdastraSoft.com illustrates the vision of kids of different attributes holding hands together to form a harmonious circle.
