2009-12-03:

All four of our applications have gone thru considerable updates to make them more robust.  New features are planned in the next release.

Our best-seller, iPACS, would undergo further feature enhancement to make it one of the very best and flexible teaching devices out there.

As we have substantial number of users now, we plan to make user manual available for all of our applications, in Adobe PDF format.

Soon we will also make a brief Microsoft Office 2008 PowerPoint presentation and an Cisco WedEx presentation available, to help any interested individual to understand how we could leverage this exciting mobile technology in teaching.

Most exciting of all, as AdastraSoft.com approaches its first anniverary, our applications are widely applauded and adapted by school districts, home educators and independent therapists world-wide.  We hope to continue our model of tools development, that we all share our ideas in helping our special needs kids, that your teaching needs drive the direction of the applications.

Please continue to send in your positive and constructive feedbacks to support@adastrasoft.com

Great news to our users!  Apple AppStore now has free download of Adobe Photoshop Mobile for iPhone and iPodTouch.  It features basic yet very useful editing of photos in the albums.

In particular, you may use it to crop existing pictures to square size, which is the preferred aspect ratio for all of our applications.

2009-10-11:

All of our four existing applications are undergoing updates right now.  The new releases should be available around end of October 2009.

If you have a wish-list for updates to be added into our applications, please feel free to share with us so we could incorporate them for you.

We will also introduce our 5th application that has some very useful features to compliment the existing ones.  It will be available for free download during first month of release, currently scheduled in mid-November 2009.

Special thanks to those of you who gave us invaluable, constructive feedbacks.

Happy Labor Day Weekend to all!

:-)

Some curious teachers locally mentioned HaloTalk and how it may help their teaching activities.  To our suprises, however, they thought it is only good for teaching opposites.

HaloTalk is much more than that.  In a nutshell, we want to develop a tool for very quick prompting.  You could put in any two choices you like there.

For example, you may create entry that says McDonald's/Taco Bells.  They are certainly not opposites, but that entry will help your kid pick where to go.  Another example is have an side-dish entry, say, french-fries vs onion-rings.  Again, they are not opposites, but HaloTalk will let you prompt your kid quickly to make a choice.

***

Our best selling iPACS is an extension of that idea.  For example, you could create 2 pages in the yellow tab.  Each tab will have 3 common icons: "I want", "I dislike", "More".  Then the remaining 3 icons in each page could be "orange", "burger", "soda" (all on 1st page), "taco", "pizza", "train"  (all on 2nd page).  What you got now is a very flexible way to prompt multiple choices.

Customization capabilities have been added to Expressionist and HaloTalk as well as to StepStones.  The free updates are currently under Apple AppStore review.  Once they are approved, you would be able to add and customize your contents.

Two token systems have been introduced in the new release of StepStones.  Basically, our test users pretend to blow candles at the phone.  When all candles are blown out, they would earn an reinforcer:

Please notice that the new release would also allow you to check off steps in the zoomed view.

We also added an Mini-Me like feature in HaloTalk.

Last but not least, we created a new application called iPACS. It is more or less like an empty PECS book for a typical ABA class (6 students), allowing you to customize all kind of things to meet your needs. It is currently being reviewed by Apple as well.
